CANADA: $200 "MOUNTIE" SERIES GOLD COIN. 1 troy ounce of gold produced to a fineness of .99999 gold, the purest available. Certified 31.15 grammes of pure gold. |
||
The obverse of the medal shows the traditional image of Queen Elizabeth II with, below, the denomination of $200 as well as the year of issue, 2011. The obverse has a striking image of a Mountie riding a horse at full canter with pennant flying and, below, the inscription: "FINE GOLD 1OZ OR PUR". Diameter is 30 mm and the edge is of interrupted serration type. There are very few coins manufactured in .99999 gold as the process of refinement above .9999 presents many difficulties. Canada leads the way in this process and this coin is a striking example of just how far they have developed their refining processes. The certification on the reverse of the pack makes an interesting read, explaining as it does, definition of the purity of .99999 gold. The coin is supplied sealed in a rigid blister pack and has a weight of 31.15 grammes of .99999 (24 carat) gold, this giving a total fine gold content of 31.15 grammes (1 troy ounce). PRICE: £1249 (offers considered).
